Questions

What's the difference between Super 8 and digital wedding film?

Digital is your main wedding film, capturing the day in full with your ceremony and speeches included. Super 8 is completely different. It's genuine analogue film, shot on physical cartridges with no playback, then developed and scanned after your wedding. The result is a short, grainy and nostalgic film that feels a little like stepping back into the day. It sits alongside your digital wedding film, adding another layer of atmosphere and emotion rather than replacing it.

How much Super 8 footage do we actually get back?

Each Super 8 cartridge gives us around three minutes of film. Depending on how many rolls we shoot, most weddings end up with around two to three minutes of finished Super 8 footage. It's edited into a short, standalone piece that captures the feeling of the day.

Is it risky shooting something with no playback?

There's no way to check the footage until the roll is developed, but that's also part of what makes Super 8 so special. We're intentional about what we shoot on film, and because it's an extra layer alongside your digital coverage, we're not relying on it to capture every moment of your day. Your digital film captures the day more comprehensively, while Super 8 adds those unexpected, nostalgic moments.

What happens if the light is poor?

Super 8 needs a little more light than digital, so we always keep an eye on the lighting throughout the day and choose the type of film that suits the conditions. If it gets too dark, we can also bring in a little extra light where needed. And if the light still isn't right for Super 8, we'll simply lean more on the digital coverage. You don't need to worry about missing anything. We'll always make sure your day is beautifully captured.

What couples say about their Super 8 film

Amelia Scheriani Uluwatu, Bali, October 2025 Read on Google

They created a highlight film, edited the full ceremony and speeches, plus amazing social snippets and (my personal favourite) the Super 8 film. Every piece felt so intentional and full of emotion.

Andrew Huang Yering Station, Victoria, May 2025 Read on Google

The Super 8 video was a great addition, and not offered by many.
